Last 18th May, Cetaqua attended to a networking event hosted by the AQUASEF Project “Improving aquaculture through the development of eco-efficient technologies”.  The session served as a tool for exchanging views and experiencies about the development of research projects funded by the LIFE Programme concerning the aquaculture filed or related areas where the innovative technologies may have a further applicability.

Cetaqua was represented by Rubén Reif, who participated in a roundtable discussion and presented the LIFE SEACAN project. The LIFE SEACAN project, funded by the European Commission, will demonstrate the potential of two innovative biofilm-based technologies (aerobic granular sludge and hybrid bioreactors) which will be implemented to decrease the impact of industrial activity on marine ecosystems. Throughout the project, the positive effects of the proposed treatment technologies will be assessed using several key performance indicators, including a specific monitoring evaluation of the benthic ecosystem and a life cycle assesment, which will fistly provide a direct quantification of the environmental benefits reported by the technology.

In the event, the results of LIFE AQUASEF were shown, eco-efficient technologies in the aquaculture field were discussed and projects of technical interest and aplicability regarding the aquaculture field were presented.
